Why Do I Blog?

I am telling you now, this is going to get sentimental. Mushy even. Borderline Hallmark card, so brace yourselves.

It’s been four months since I began The Cubicle Chick. During this time, I have learned so much from others willing to share. It has been a constant struggle. At times I wanted to give up because I didn’t think anyone was reading or that my work was going unnoticed. It was a dream of mine since I was a little girl to become a writer and make an impact in the world. Becoming a mother at a young age made me also put my dreams on hold. Now with the power of a few keystrokes and a few dollars each month on hosting fees, my dream has become realized.

Do I blog for fame? Or stardom? Or for money? Of course I would like to be well known for my work and be added to a list of top notch bloggers out there doing their thing and reaping the benefits financially and professionally. But most of all, I blog because this is my canvas. I have something to say and finally, after years of being dormant, I can express myself on my own platform.

The freedom to express yourself is limitless. There is no limit to what you or I can do!

When I began blogging on my personal blog last year, I would peruse other bloggers sites to read other content. And it was so amazing to see the wonders that people are doing with their voices. Afrobella has always been a she-ro of mine. When I began visiting her blog in 2008, I was awestruck at her poise, her words, her vision. I used to listen to her on NPR’s News and Notes before it was cancelled and realized that this sister was living her dream, or at the very least, a portion of it! It was then that I knew what I wanted to do. My personal blog could only take me so far.

I had to channel my energies into a project that would go far beyond my personal trials, tribulations, and heartaches.

So The Cubicle Chick was born. And there are days that I just want to hang it up and give up the good fight. But through God, I have been blessed to be surrounded by such good folk who want to help me and take me to the next level. Folk like Jessica, HauteTravels, NotoriousSpinks, TKHarmonic, and there are so many others. It is because of you that I blog. Because you guys believe in me and I don’t want to ever let you down. But most importantly, I don’t want to let myself down.

I have work to do!

Thank you to all of my readers who come to my site daily to read my musings and such. You are very appreciated. This project has become a passion of mine, a passion that is mostly fueled by the love of writing and sharing information.

There are wonderful things ahead, projects that are still in its infancy and I cannot wait to share them with you as they become a reality on the web. It’s been a journey but it is far from over. Thank you for letting me share my words and my world.

I feel so special, you mentioned…wiping tears! But seriously, I love your blog and your spirit and we support each other in what we do. Who would have know that the world wide web would have this impact on people all over the world during its baby stages. Thanks for paving the way for me and so many others that will be motivated to blog because they are inspired by you and what you do. I am looking at my calendar to see if I can get to the Lou in April and come to your event.

I enjoy your blog. It is fantastic the way you are integrating blogging, social networking and the "real world" on multiple levels, including locally in your community. You not only have a voice, you have something meaningful to share and I just think it's awesome.
