Positive Thinking for Moms: Positive Thinking Day is September 13th

Positive Thinking for Moms Positive Thinking Day is September 13th

National Positive Thinking Day is September 13th. And while I consider myself a pretty positive person, there are days in my life as a mom and entrepreneur, when the glass does look half empty. Luckily, over the last 5 years or so, I have learned to use tools and techniques that get me back on the path to thinking positively.

So, this week, in honor of Positive Thinking Day, I thought sharing simple yet effective techniques that help me bounce back when the blues hit

1. Count Your Blessings

One of the first things I do when I get all sad or negative about everything that’s on my plate is to count my blessings. Literally. One. By. One. I write them down if I have to. One of my action items this year is to be consistent with a gratitude journal but while I haven’t been able to do that yet, I am focusing on counting my blessings. Doing this helps you get perspective and also, see everything good that’s going for you.

2. Take a Time Out

Tired moms can’t think positively. Your brain is in overdrive. Everything seems to be moving too fast and you just can’t keep up. Take a time out. Do something that you truly enjoy, even if it is just a soak in the tub while someone watches the kids.

Self-care is so important for keeping us in the right frame of mind. Simple things like, remembering to stay hydrated, a walk in the park, reading a book, can really help you think positive and focus on the brighter side.

3. Remember the Good Times

Finally, when it all seems to get too much to handle, and the tears start to flow out of frustration, it may seem tough but try to think of the good times. For me, it is remembering how tiny my little girl was, how she loves to snuggle against me as we sleep or read and even though, she’s screaming her head off right now, she loves me and will be her sweet self in no time.

Memories are powerful and the good ones are great ways to get back on the Think Positive Train!

4. Have a Support Circle

Positive thinking is easier when you’re surrounded by folks who get you and get how tough parenting can be at times. Make an effort at all times to find friends who you can call in the middle of a meltdown. And remember to do the same for them. Support circles are a proven way to deal with life’s challenges. Start creating one for yourself today.
