What to Wear on the Fourth of July

What to Wear on the Fourth of July

Baby, you’re a firework – and on Independence Day, you should let your style sparkle! Starting with the patriotic palette of red, white, and blue, you can create a look that’s casually cool or super-sizzling. From mouth-watering barbecues to concerts and fireworks, here are some festive outfit ideas (sparklers optional) and style cues for What to Wear on the Fourth of July.

Flagship Cute

The easiest way to showcase your American pride is to wear something embellished with an American flag. Pair a tee with denim cutoffs and you’ve got a casual outfit to wear to the pool or in your backyard as grillmaster. Give the look a free-spirited vibe by adding fringe accents on sandals or earrings. Another way to show some USA love is to grab a purse, necklace, or backpack with a flag on it.

Flagship Cute

Top / High rise jean shorts / Kate Spade ankle strap sandals / ALDO zipper purse / Swatch red wrist watch / Anni Jürgenson ear cuff earrings / Vintage style glasses

Patriotic Pin-Up

Sparks will fly if you slip into a sassy halter dress. Perfect for a party or hot date, the 1950s silhouette shows off (or gives the illusion of) a curvy figure. Retro cat-eye sunglasses, T-strap heels, and a dramatic red lip are fun finishing touches to this pin-up inspired ensemble.

Patriotic Pin-Up

Pin up polka dot dress / Pointy toe high heel pumps/ Anya hindmarch handbag/ Red bow earrings / Wildfox cateye sunglasses/ NARS Cosmetics lipstick

Rock the Boat

Even if you’re nowhere near a yacht on Independence Day, a timeless striped tee and white wide-leg pants always looks chic. A pop of red, like with a purse or earrings, keeps things festive. Boat shoes complete the classy look and are comfortable enough for most holiday activities. (White does get dirty easily, though, so use caution when chowing down on BBQ ribs.)

Rock the Boat

Joseph striped t shirt / P.A.R.O.S.H. wide-leg pants / Sperry top-sider shoes / Neiman Marcus crossbody handbag / Silver jewelry / Kate spade jewelry

Stars and Stripes Forever

Want a look that really goes “boom!”? Try patriotic print-mixing with broad stripes and bright stars! A striped crop top paired with a star-patterned skirt creates a loud outfit quieted only by the evening’s fireworks. White chunky shoes and a simple clutch let the rest of the outfit shine.

Stars and Stripes Forever

Topshop red striped t shirt / Deetz high waisted flare skirt/ Nly Shoes open toe ankle boots / Proenza schouler pochette / Brass stud earrings / Rgb nail color

Hopefully, these tips have helped ignite a scorching look for your holiday plans. Happy 4th of July!
