Reminiscing On My 48+ Hour Getaway in Miami

I needed a respite from cold weather in the Midwest, so I took a quick Getaway in Miami Beach to soak up some sun. Read about my experience.

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, but weather is not one of its qualities I enjoy. No matter how long I’ve lived in the Midwest, the colder climate still irks my soul. A jaunt to a warmer destination is always on my mind during autumn and winter, so I booked a trip to Miami Beach so I could bask in the sunshine and partake in sunny shenanigans, if only for two and a half days.

Sometimes, that’s all you need to get your spark back.

I landed in Miami Saturday morning, and quickly got into vacation mode. My hotel was situated in Miami Beach’s north side, and was such a quaint beauty with a vibe that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Brunch was on the menu at Le Zoo, which features French cuisine in a fine dining environment—Eggs Benedict everything.

I also booked a massage at Bliss Spa at the W South Beach, and it was just what the doctor ordered. I am still basking in the afterglow.

Sunday, I got in some beach time and got together with a friend to do brunch and other items in the Wynwood Arts District.

Fun times!

Monday was flight day, but because I didn’t leave until after 7 pm, I was able to get in a full day in Miami. This time, I focused my beach-time on South Beach, posted up by the Versace Mansion, and had lunch on Ocean Drive.

Life is beautiful.

Even if you can’t get away for a week-long jaunt, you can take a quick trip somewhere to relax, relate, and release.

Here are a few tips to help you make the most out of your next quick excursion:

Plan your escape

When you are doing a quick getaway in Miami or anywhere else, time is of the essence, so planning is going to be key to getting the most out of it. List the things you’d like to do in highest to lower priority, then create your plan so you can get them all done.

I knew I wanted to do a spa experience, beach, and brunch, so I made sure that I booked my appointment, made reservations for brunch, and selected a hotel just steps from the beach.

Use apps

Apps can be your best friend on a trip. Use apps like Open Table to see what the hot spots are for dining, and Groupon to find deals on spa, beauty, and activities.

Do it off season

Go to a destination on the off-season, so you are more likely to have an enhanced experience. I love partaking in a Miami getaway in the fall and winter months because it is less congested and the weather is still nice, but not as hot as it is in the summer.

Hotel rates are also cheaper during the off-season.

Solo

For a short trip, you may want to opt for a solo vacation. That way, you can do all of the things you want without having to compromise on the activities. I enjoy traveling on my own, and quick trips are great for the solo dolo.

My 48+ hour getaway in Miami was just what I needed. I am already looking at another destination for December. It won’t be a warmer climate (womp womp), but it will be magical—this I can assure you.
