Get to Know American Express Membership Rewards: Social Currency

American Express has always been in the forefront of creating new ways for its members to enjoy privileges and perks other credit card companies do not offer. Their Membership Rewards program offers you points back on the items you purchase with your card, and you can use these points to purchase flights, tickets, and more. And since the points don’t expire, this is a fabulous perk that only American Express members get to experience. These points are known as Social Currency.

Why Social Currency? Well, you can use the points you have earned to purchase items in a variety of areas including travel, entertainment, and to purchase items online on many websites. You can also earn points when you refer an approved friend or family member, and link your Membership Rewards account to Zynga, or other online stores. Get bonus Membership Rewards points when you shop online with inSite from American Express, a service that notifies you of special offers when you use your card.

Unlike some other point programs, you can start redeeming points right at the beginning with just a few points. At places like Old Navy and The Gap, you can find gift cards starting at a mere 1,000 points. This is perfect for Cubes and Dudes on the go!

American Express Membership Rewards Social Currency is the best program out there that offers you real points on the purchases you make each month with your Amex card. With amazing perks and value, Social Currency is indeed a wonderful thing!

To learn more about this program, visit American Express’ Membership Rewards.

I love AMEX’s Rewards program. Every year I earn a round-trip plane ticket and tickets to a concert or two. Having the card also helps me to control my spending since the balance is due in full every month. It’s the only card I carry now.

Veronica, thanks for commenting. I know those points come in handy for flights and things. It’s good to know that you can accrue points on every dollar you spend. 🙂
