Lifetime TV’s ‘The Fairy Jobmother’ Tackles Unemployment One Person at a Time

Reality TV is where it’s at these days. It is relatively inexpensive to produce since there isn’t a large cast of celebrities that require a hefty paycheck. All you need is a sound idea, a great TV personality to host or spotlight, and a theme. Lifetime TV has had a few reality TV shows under their belt including the vivacious Project Runway, and now will help those with unemployment woes on their new show, The Fairy Jobmother, which premieres on the network on October 28th.

According to Lifetime TV’s website, ‘Fairy Jobmother’ Hayley Taylor is an employment expert from Great Britain. A former hairdresser turned career coach and expert, she understands the struggles the unemployed faces when they are displaced and looking for work. She was first featured on a three-part series on a UK television program and was then asked to host her own show to help people realize their full potential in both their careers and personal lives.

I have yet to see the show (Lifetime, send me an advanced copy please!), but from the looks of the reviews online of those who have and the previews I have seen on the channel, Hayley is your typical reality show personality that employs tough love tactics to get her point across. In terms of sheer knowledge of human resources, management, and hiring, I am not sure why she is an “expert” but I am willing to take a look at the show to fully form my opinion on the show. As a career pundit myself, it takes more than a quick wit and snazzy attitude to truly help those who are looking for work.

The show also employs experts in career, fashion, and beauty to work as an army to motivate, teach, and grow their subjects. They will tackle topics such as writing the perfect resume, the proper way to dress for work, and etiquette during a job interview.

I am anxious to see this show to see if this is really a reality program about helping those unemployed improve themselves or if it is just a vehicle to use the current topic of umemployment for “entertainment purposes”.

Will you watch The Fairy Jobmother when it premieres on Lifetime Television Network?

Honestly? I could use The Fairy Job Mother to come & kick my a**. Seriously. I want to change my career, but I allow my own fears to hold me back & she seems like she could REALLY be the push I need. Ha! A lot of us need that from time to time… We’ll all have to watch & see what it’s REALLY all about.
