6 Christmas Gift Ideas That You Can Make Yourself

With Christmas just a few weeks away, most of us are busy making sure we have a gift for those who have been nice this year. But doing so doesn’t have to cost a fortune—in fact, it doesn’t have to cost anything at all. Making gifts and creating a gift that expresses your feelings for the person you are giving to can mean more than anything bought from a store. It can be fun, therapeutic, and most of all—priceless.

Here are Christmas gift ideas that you can make yourself:

Say BAKE!

One of the sweetest ways you can show your affection with a Christmas gift is by baking some items. You can bake and decorate sugar cookies, brownies, cakes, and more and present them in a decorative homemade tin, or wrapped in a festive box with a fabulous bow. Most people love baked goods, so this could be a wonderful way to go to show someone how much you care.

Say it with a photo

Pick a picture that you’ve taken with the person. Or perhaps one of their cutest baby pictures. Or fabulous “runway” moments. Whatever the case, you can print the picture on photo paper and present it in a gift with a wonderful frame that you have bejeweled or decorated.

Poetic Justice

A few years ago, I created a poem for everyone who attended my Christmas Eve party. The poems were short sonnets about the person that was unique and individualized. And to this day, they still have the poems displayed in their homes or offices. It’s a keepsake that created memories.

Creative Calendars

Last year, I made my dad a 2011 calendar with a different photo for every month. Some of the photos were of me as a baby or little girl, some of them were pictures of my children, his grandchildren. He said each month, he always enjoyed turning the page to a new month so he could see the new photo. I made the calendar online on Zazzle and it was very inexpensive.

Make an Ornament

I am making ornaments for a few people on my list this year. I am starting with a base using an ornament I already have, and I am using faux pearls, glitter, gems, and other goodies to personalize the ornament for the recipient. It’s a gift that keeps on giving as they can use the ornament next year and the year after and so on.

Extreme Coupons

Create coupons with a template that are specialized for the recipient. A free back rub for a spouse or A Girl Friday for a bestie who you will run errands for for a day. Be creative and make the coupons unique for the person you are giving them to.

These are just 6 ideas that I have come up with but you don’t have to limit yourself to this list. Be as creative as you can and think outside the box. As long as your gift comes from the heart, it doesn’t matter how much it costs! 🙂
