Decor Tips: Decking My Halls for the Holiday with Pier 1 Imports

There’s something about the holiday season that brings out my inner Martha Stewart. I love making my home a showpiece for all of the entertaining that I do this time of year. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, my family spends a lot of time here. So it’s important that not only is my home clean, comfortable, and inviting, but that it also showcases our family personality in the decor we use to spread our yuletide cheer.

I recently got the opportunity to try my hand at holiday decorating with a little help from Pier 1 Imports. I’ve always known Pier 1 to be a place for fabulous home furnishings, decor, and fun pieces. But I had no idea that they had so many options for the holiday season. From cookware to decorations to unique items that really celebrate the holidays, Pier 1 impressed me. After walking around the store, I couldn’t wait to dive in and pick out things that were perfect for my home and the most wonderful time of the year.

I’ve titled my holiday color selection and decor Whimsical Holiday for the bright and feminine color palette. With hints of pink, purple, and aquamarine, I decided to forgo the usual “red and green” traditional color scheme for something a little modern, yet still Christmasy. I did use some traditional color here and there to bring it all together.

The result? Quite fab if I don’t say so myself!

Here are a few photos of my Whimsical Holiday pieces I hand selected from Pier 1, along with tips on how to make your holiday decor merry and bright! Seeing this decor around my home makes me instantly happy:

Tip #1: Start with a wreath that sets your holiday decor off with a bang.

The holiday wreath on your door will set the tone for all of your holiday decor, and it’s the first thing people see before stepping into your home. Make sure it is representative of your style and personality. I chose this wreath from Pier 1 because I loved the colors, and it worked with with the Whimsical Holiday color palette that I had in mind.

Tip #2: Find Pieces That POP!

With decor, you want to find items that make a statement, without being too over the top. I found this cute snowman alongside a fab reindeer when I was shopping at Pier 1, and I had to have them. They make wonderful conversation pieces and both kids and adults love them.

Tip #3: Make Your Tree Your Centerpiece

I love fab holiday decor, but I make sure that it doesn’t take away from the showstopper of the house—the Christmas tree! Continue your theme throughout your home and make sure to utilize it on your tree. From my decor to my wreath, to the ornaments on the tree, my Whimsical Holiday theme is prevalent all throughout my home.

Tip #4 Be Creative

When I saw this fab Believe pillow at Pier 1, I had to have it. But, I also knew it wasn’t quite in the colors I was utilizing in my palette. I decided to buy it anyway because I knew it was too cute to pass up, and even though it was more traditional than my Whimsical Holiday theme, it still would fit in well (and you don’t want to be too matchy matchy). I decided to use it with my tree at the bottom to set off the look of the tree, and it looks amazing. Being creative with your pieces will make your holiday decor even more fabulous and fun!

Tip #5 Make It Yourself

I created these Deck The Halls small vases with chalkboard tags a few weeks ago, and added some faux candy canes  from Pier 1 to them. Chalkboard paper gives you so many options to write messages and create unique decor that everyone will enjoy.

Tip #6 Make It Personal

Again, traditional color scheme, but that’s okay because it still works! I adore these Pier 1 holiday place setters because when your guest sits at the table and sees their name propped up on one of these, they will know that you took the time to make the event even more personal for them, and they will love you for it.

I found the selection at Pier 1 to be overwhelmingly wonderful. There was so much to choose from, it was hard for me to choose. The Pier 1 associates were quite helpful and answered all of my questions. I had so much fun shopping and picking out items—it will now be my go-to place for holiday decor.

What will you be decking the halls with this holiday season?
