Light It Up Mason Jar DIY Craft Tutorial

It’s no secret that around here, mason jars are our thing.

Which is why we are super excited about our latest mason jar DIY craft. Our Light It Up Mason Jar DIY is a creative and personalized way to show someone that you care. It can also double as a nightlight for little ones who may be afraid of the dark.

This DIY is super simple, yet fun too. It allows you to express your feelings in a way that truly demonstrates how they make you feel. Our Light It Up Mason Jar DIY craft can also serve as a fabulous conversational piece. Use it as decor in a home or office, and be reminded all of the time of how “bright” you make someone feel.

Here is what you will need:

  • Mason jars (medium to large size with cap)
  • Chalk labels
  • Battery powered lights
  • Markers
  • Construction paper
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon

Start with your mason jar. Make sure it is cleaned off before adding the lights.

You can purchase battery powered lights on Amazon. Many of them have timers, which will allow the lights to shut off after a short period of time.

Insert the batteries into the lights, then add the lights to the inside of the mason jar.

Write a special message on the chalk label and affix it to the mason jar.

Tie a ribbon around the top of the mason jar with the construction paper and write the recipient’s name.

To further personalize the jar, you can add special messages onto folded pieces of paper to the inside of the mason jar.

Our Light It Up Mason Jar DIY craft makes a great gift for kids too! They will love the way it lights up, and having their own glow in the dark jar may help them sleep better at night.

Will you be making your own Light It Up Mason Jar DIY?

Being the kid who flunked arts and crafts in kindergarten, this looks easy enough even for me.

This is a cute idea to change a mason jar into something more. I am always interested in decorating with a light up glass of some sort, this is great!

That is a cute craft idea. I love the chalk board message too. I wish that I had a pretty mason jar so that I could make something like this for our home. It would be fun to change the message often too.
