7 Reasons Why I’m Looking Forward to Season 3 of Black Love on OWN

Our world is a mess, but Season 3 of Black Love on OWN is poised to give me respite from the chaos and madness. Read why I'm hyped for Season 3!

Black Love.

Those two words stir up so many wonderful thoughts in my head. The celebration of two people coming together to form a bond that can move mountains—that is the stuff that makes me warm and fuzzy. I love to see our stories celebrated in a positive fashion, as oftentimes in our jacked up society, it doesn’t get told. I fell in love with Black Love during its inaugural season on OWN, and now the series is preparing for its third season—I am all types of hyped.

If you don’t know, Black Love is a docu-series that focuses on Black couples as they share how they fell in love, trials, tribulations, redemption, parenthood, heartbreak, and so much more. These stories are often shared by high profile couples (previous seasons have featured Tina Knowles Lawson and Richard Lawson and Tamia and Grant Hill), but also features around-the-way couples that could be your friends, neighbors, or coworkers.

It doesn’t stop there, however. There’s other glimpses of Black Love told through the lenses of moms, sons, daughters, Aunts, Uncles, etc. It is a total family affair on Black Love, and I am here for it.

From the teasers of Season 3 of Black Love on OWN, it’s going to be a good one, and watching it inspired me to share 7 Reasons Why I’m Looking Forward to Season 3 of Black Love on OWN.

Melancholy mood

Things are pretty jacked up right now in the world. It is refreshing to be able to see something positive on TV with hatred, racism, and other negatives that is too much for me to fathom most times. Black Love is like a breath of fresh air after inhaling toxic smoke and fumes.

Smile, darling

Black Love makes me smile. Not just the TV show, but the thought of it. When we love, we love hard and deep and real, and that makes me smile. Even through tough times and adversity, love has always gotten us through.

We are beautiful

It is a beautiful thing to behold with Black Love. I am looking forward to celebrating these new love stories and sharing all of the Black Girl Magic and Black Boy Joy everywhere.

Love under new management

I am super excited about Season 3 of Black Love because, I am embarking on a new Black Love of my own. After getting divorced and having some failed relationships, I finally felt ready to try again, and this time, it feels right. Because of this, I am looking forward to watching the new season from a different lens and perspective.

Masterclass

And speaking of new relationships, the wisdom and antidotes on Black Love are always on point. So with this new situation I am in, I want to take in all of the gems and jewels and hopefully apply them to my new love.

I see myself

I see myself in these couples, whether they are famous or not. There are things that we go through as a people and as a couple that others do not, and I identify with the series so much and in so many ways.

I love love

Love. It is my favorite word, and I hope that when people remember me, they recall the love I showed. As Luther Vandross and Gregory Hines once sang, There’s Nothing Better Than Love, and Black Love is a love supreme.

Season 3 of Black Love on OWN premieres on Saturday, August 10th at 9 pm EST/8 pm CST. The new season will feature couples Terry Crews & Rebecca Crews, Kandi Burruss & Todd Tucker, Salli Richardson-Whitfield & Dondre Whitfield, David & Tamela Mann, Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson, and LeToya Luckett & Tommicus Walker plus every day folk like you and me. I can’t wait!

Are you looking forward to more Black Love?

Black Love is a great docu-series. It’s interesting to hear the couples challenges as well as the good parts of their love story. I learn something from each couple featured. As someone who has been burned TERRIBLY by love it gives me a little bit of hope.
