Must See TV: A&E’s Real Life Series Monster In-Laws

Everybody that reads my blog regularly knows that I love reality television. It’s something about watching people’s lives unfold on television before my eyes that is very entertaining to me. Last year, I began watching Monster In-Laws, a real life series focused on families and their over-the-top in-laws who like to bust in and take over. Shown with brutal honesty in a dramatic fashion, Monster In-Laws will make you cringe at some of the antics taking place, but makes for very interesting television.

Monster In-Laws has made it’s return for their second season on A&E, which began on May 28th, and this season promises to high drama. When you have in-laws that don’t know how to stop meddling in the lives of their children, it is bound to wreck havoc. Add TV cameras, and you have intensity of dramatic proportions.

I have not had the pleasure of having meddling in-laws (thank God!), and that, I am grateful for. I am not sure how these families manage to survive the dysfunction an overbearing in-law can bring to a marriage, but somehow, they deal with it. Monster In-Laws brings in relationship expert and former attorney Mel Robbins, who cuts through all of the pomp and circumstance and gets down to the issues and problems at hand. Life coach Laura Baron also works with the family to mediate and make sense out of the sometimes destructive relationships.

Here’s what we can look forward to this season:

In the season two premiere; mother-in-law Linda is known for her brutal honesty and nobody is safe from her wrath – including her own granddaughters. However, no one is a more frequent target than her son Jim’s wife, Michelle. Jim’s grandmother is ill and wants to see the family reconcile before it’s too late. It’s up to Laura Baron to help the family fulfill grandma’s dying wish.

And later; the Bowjanowskis are back. Last season, mother-in-law Khalood was dead-set on breaking up her daughter Fallon and her fiancé Steve. Since then, Fallon and Steven have married and are now living under Khalood’s roof to save money, but things have gone from bad to worse and Khalood spends all her energy trying to annul her daughter’s new marriage. Mel Robbins pays them a visit to see if a relationship can be salvaged, but the mediation ends in a trip to the emergency room.

Monster In-Laws is back with 10 episodes this season, and you can catch a new episode of the series on Monday, June 4th with back-to-back episodes at 10 and 10:30 EST/PST. To learn more about Monster-In-Laws, you can view future episode previews HERE.

Will you be watching Monster In-Laws this season on A&E?

Oh man, I am sorry to hear that Michelle. That must be a bummer. But kudos for you and your husband for staying together through the “foolishness”.
