Winter Woes: 6 Products I Use to Combat Winter Dry Skin

Winter Woes 6 Products I Use to Combat Winter Dry Skin

During the winter months, I suffer from excessive dry skin. My face manages to stay combination/oily, but everywhere else on my body tends to be dry and flaky. I also tend to “shed” and peel on my hands. After searching for years for products that can keep me well moisturized during the cold, frigid temperatures of the late Fall and Winter months, I’ve found six (6) products that work very well on my skin. I thought I would share my regimen in hopes that it can help other dry skin sufferers.

Here are 6 products I use to combat winter dry skin:

Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector

This is one of my favorite dry skin remedies. I found it last year while shopping at The Body Shop, and I fell in love. It is made with Community Fair Trade hemp seed oil, and gives complete moisture immediately. It is a handcreme, and I use it about three times a day or as needed, especially after washing my hands or doing the dishes. You will love this as much as I do—believe me. The smell isn’t as nice as I’d like, but it’s not smelly. You can, however, tell that it is made from hemp. The Body Shop, 1.0 fl oz, $5.00 (now on sale)

Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Oil

This is another great find from The Body Shop. Recommended for very dry skin, this intense hand oil works as intensive are for extra dry areas on the skin. The oil comes in a .5 fl oz dropper and you only have to use a drop or two during each use. Use before you go outside in cold weather, prior to putting on your gloves. When you take them off, your hands will be well moisturized for sure. I carry this around in my purse for those extra frigid days. The Body Shop, $6.00 (now on sale)

Cacee Aloe Vera Massage Oil

Massage oil as a moisturizer for the skin? Yes please! I love this oil because it is light and goes on without leaving “extra” behind. The Cacee Aloe Vera Massage Oil is used best after you have bathed or gotten out of the shower. Because your skin is susceptible for more moisture right after bathing, applying the Cacee Aloe Vera Massage Oil will seal in that moisture, giving you supple skin. You can further seal in the oil by applying additional lotion or body cream on top of the Cacee Aloe Vera Massage Oil, $26.95 32oz.

Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Body Butter

This is an amazing body butter. It’s light but effective, and the smell is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite body butters on the market. Apply as needed for an awesome dose of moisture, which helps traps hydration in. Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Body Butter is available in a smaller 1.69 fl oz size and a size. You will not be disappointed. 10.0 oz, $20.00, Sephora.

Bliss Hot Salt Scrub

This is not an oil, lotion, or cream, but works as a first defense to keep skin well hydrated. Use this potent scrub prior to getting in the shower. Rub down your body with it and then use a srubber if you have one to shed dry skin. Once well scrubbed, rinse the scrub off (it reacts to water and washes off fully), your skin will feel luxurious! I found this during a shopping trip in Chicago (recommended by fellow blogger Raijean of SwaRai.com), and it’s been a love affair ever since. $38.00, Sephora.

NIVEA Smooth Sensation Body Lotion for Dry Skin

NIVEA has always been my go-to when it comes to keeping my skin healthy. It’s a perfect, inexpensive, drugstore remedy, and has worked for me for years. Their Smooth Sensation Body Lotion for Dry Skin is just what the doctor ordered, especially during the colder climate. $7.99, Soap.com.

When all else fails, Vaseline always works. It’s my go-to remedy and heals dry skin immediately.

For dry lip care, use Rosebud Salve (click here for more info) or Blistex Lip Medex (I just started using this since my blogging friend A Real Urban Mom gave it to me in a gift bag—I LOVE it!)

Wintertime doesn’t mean that you have to walk around with dry and damaged skin. Check out my recommendations of 6 products that I use to combat winter dry skin and let me know how they work for you.
