After what seems like too long of a hiatus for even the most casual fan, Scandal’s back!
Like it or not, the hit television show has taken over television and social media. The star of the show, Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, is the successful owner of a crisis management firm. She“handles” issues that come up in the political arena of Washington, D.C. There have been many heated debates on the moral and ethical lines that this crisis management team crosses, both personally and professionally. But one thing that is not up for debate is Olivia’s impeccable sense of style.
Here are some of my favorite looks from past seasons:
I am a true lover of statement coats and Olivia has an amazing collection from which to choose…I MUST find a budget friendly rendition of this pink one:
Black and White
Her evening wear consists of lots of black and white color-blocking, like this beauty:
Another staple for Olivia is the “non-suit” jacket:
You better believe that a lot of thought went in to this wardrobe palette. Two fun facts that I bet you did not know. Just like our real life first lady, Michelle Obama, Olivia’s recycles select pieces from her wardrobe. The thought behind this is to create the vision that the character is a realistic professional woman with an authentic closet. Second fun fact, Olivia’s fashion choices shift with the mood of the scene, resorting toward whites during lighter scenes and darker colors to reflect intensity in scenes.
The seriously amazing wardrobe for the show, Lyn Paolo, has curated Olivia’s wardrobe to include several top designers; including Goyard, Escada, Christian Dior, Valentino, and the infamous grey Armani jacket from the pilot episode. This nod to high fashion shines a light on Olivia’s personality and worldly experience.
I seriously think that Olivia has to have a personal stylist. Otherwise, when on earth would she have time to do a lot of shopping?! Luckily, you can have one too. If you want a closet like Olivia’s for a fraction of the price but want some help creating it, then hire me at no cost to you.
In the mean time and in between time, here are some of my budget conscious Olivia Pope picks- streamlined, whites, neutrals and some black and seriously awesome coats. I believe in quality so if I can only wear an item a handful of times, it is not worth spending any amount of money on.
Will you be tuning in to see what Olivia will be rocking on new episodes of Scandal which premiere on February 27, 2014? I know I will!
