New Mom Maritza Aguilar Creates Her Own Magic with AVON

AVON Disclosure

Maritza Aguilar is a new mom—again. With the birth of her fifth child, she knows what it takes to juggle work and family. A go-getter from the Empire State, Maritza came on board with AVON and made an impressive income in her first few months. Learn more about Maritza, how she manages five children as well as her business, and tips on how you can do it too!

Avn_Brnd_ambssdr_badgeHow did you become an AVON Representative?

I am a mother of five wonderful children, and I needed something that would be perfect for my schedule. A little of why I decided Avon would be my perfect job is the fact that almost two years ago I was diagnosed with a disease, and due to that health problem my doctors told me that I would only be able to do certain things when it came to work. Of course I couldn’t remain without working seeing as I have five young children. I didn’t want to be a failure in front of my children. I decided to take action, and one day as I was searching for jobs I found an ad that said, ” start your own Avon business earning $500.” Who wouldn’t call if they saw an ad like that? At least for curiosity’s sake. When I called, the lady that I spoke with convinced me over the phone to start my Avon business, and when I asked her, “How can you sign me up?” she told me she is from Texas and was going to be in New York the following week. I still remember saying to myself, “how am I going to do business with this lady if she is so far away?” but she proved me wrong. She came from Texas to New York to have an interview with me and to explain how to get my business started. I said to myself if I want to do it, you’re going to do it no matter where you are if you put the effort to it.

What’s it like selling AVON and being a new mom?

For me it’s great because of the flexibility. I love my children and I love selling Avon. The same way I love to see a smile on my children’s face, I like to see my customer’s face when they get their Avon products. I like helping others feel good about themselves and with this business, I am able to do so every day. I enjoy my family and enjoy helping others feel beautiful and successful.

In just six months, you’ve grown your business tremendously. How did you do it?

I saw the big picture of what Avon offers and I sat down with my husband to set a goal for our family. Since we had dreams we wanted to make come true, I decided that the only way this would happen is if I took action right then and there.

Maritza AguilarWhat advice would you give to new moms to help them feel beautiful?

I always thought that beauty comes from the inside, but with my business and the people I have met have taught me something else. There are many ways a mom can feel beautiful about herself. It can start with taking care of your skin and using makeup, and women can feel more beautiful and more confident about themselves. It’s great to see that your children can see your confidence as well.

Are there any AVON products you would recommend to new moms?

Avon has many great products, but the one that I recommend most to mothers is the ANEW regimen, because it helps your skin feel fresh every time you use it and it helps your skin from getting damaged. As mothers don’t have that much time to themselves, it’s quick and easy to use. The other group of products that I regularly recommend is Avon’s eye makeup, as they’re easy to apply and in the back of each eye palate there are instructions of how to apply.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out with AVON?

My advice would be to enjoy what you do, have fun, set a goal for yourself and you will be successful. If you don’t have a goal, there is nothing that will motivate you to keep going.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

In five years I see myself being more successful with my Avon business, owning my own house, having a bigger car for my family and helping others be successful for themselves, too.

What are some of your favorite AVON products?

I love my Avon products, specifically the ANEW regimen that I use. It makes my face feel clean and fresh. Of course after my skincare regimen I have to use my makeup, and I’m a fan of my colors so every day I use different colors depending on my outfit. My favorite mascara is Avon’s new Mega Effects, because it makes your lashes more fuller. I wouldn’t change Avon’s eyeliners for anything, especially because we have waterproof and glittery ones. I have also recently started using our Bug Guard mosquito repellent with sunscreen, and I love it even more because I can use it on my children. Last but not least is the Imari perfume – great scent!
