In 1998 (the year of the film, Titanic), I had an Oscar celebration complete with cupcakes with platinum and gold frosting. We also had our own "Oscars" in which we voted on our favorite movies in each category, and I used envelopes with gold embossed seals to open the results.

Let's get this out of the way right now. I am not proud of the fact that I watch Dance Moms. If you don't know what Dance Moms is, it's a reality show focused on 7 girls who attend Abby Miller's Dance Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, alongside their mothers who often clash with Abby, and sometimes, each other.

A huge faction of blogs that I read are from Brown Bloggers---as a blogger of color myself, I enjoy supporting others who are working to get to the next level just like I am. So I wanted to point them out and make you familiar if you aren't already reading their blogs. Hopefully, you are able to add them to your reader or subscribe to their feeds and share them with your friends as well.

First off, working at home takes dedication and a strong work ethic. You have to be able to self manage and stay productive without someone encouraging you. And, you have to make sure to not fall into the lazy trap and allow your "home" life to overtake your "work" life. Working for yourself at home is not as easy as it looks!

My friends at Build-A-Bear Workshop are celebrating 15 years of making friends! During the last 15 years, they have shared over 100 million furry friends with us---how time flies!

Last night's Grammy Awards were full of fab glam, Hollywood A-listers, and musical elite. It was a somber affair due to the untimely death of Whitney Houston, but stars pulled through to celebrate her music and honor those who released great music over the past year. In terms of fabulous fashion, this year's Grammy was not up to par with previous years and I was a little disappointed in most of the looks that I saw on the red carpet.

I first became acquainted with Whitney Houston's music in 1985 when my parents bought her first album. I can still see the album cover. Her short hair slicked back, natural makeup in place, glowing in an island-like backdrop. Peaches and mauves showcased her face, and she was simply stunning.

Recently, Motorola started rolling out an update to the Xoom, which updates it from the Honeycomb tablet operating system to the more recent Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The Xoom was the first tablet in the US to be released with Honeycomb, and is the first that is receiving the update to Ice Cream Sandwich, though other tablets have been released with it pre-loaded.
