As you may have read over the last few days on my blog and in my tweets, I am starting a new diet and healthy eating plan. I don’t have many problems losing weight when I diet, but I do have problems sticking to a good regimen. I start out the gate like a stallion and end the race dead last. I keep trying to visit what I am doing wrong so I won’t repeat it this time, and one thing that I noticed that when I am watching my weight, I don’t have much support. I reached out to a friend who is also dieting and we both decided to be ‘Diet Buddies’.
Simply put, a ‘Diet Buddy’ is when you have someone in your corner to communicate with and connect with while dieting. This is the person you check in with on a daily basis, sharing meal plans, etc. And when you are frustrated, you have someone to lean on.
Recently, I reached out to my friend Sera who has been losing weight the last few months. I wanted to see what she has been doing to make progress and we agreed that we would be weight loss buddies and act as a support system for one another. We plan to do this by:
- Checking in via text when we reach a milestone, need a pep talk, or encouragement.
- Letting one another know each other’s progress.
- Help one another with weight loss tips and suggestions.
- Meet up every so often to work out and hang out.
When you have someone else going through the same thing you are going through, it makes it easier for you to deal. And when you have more support, you are more apt to succeed.
As I have blogged, I want to lose between 30-40 lbs total. I want to go down three to four dress sizes. I will do this by watching what I eat, working out, and paying attention to my body and its needs. I will also utilize my weight loss buddy when needed and support her as well.
Many of you have reached out to me via comments on previous posts or on my Facebook page and I appreciate your words of encouragement and your support. This journey is not mine alone.
