How to Set Your Intentions for the Week

Setting your intentions for the week can not only help you reach your goals, but it can also help you speak them into existence.

There’s a few things I am really big on when it comes to rituals, and that is starting my week of right. This usually encompasses me planning my week–what I will wear to work each day, meal planning for lunch and dinner, and setting my intentions.

Setting intentions for the week is a practice that helps you create a Call to Action plan. It allows you to focus on the tasks and items that you want to complete for the upcoming week. It also works as a foundation for how you want your week to go. You speak things (or write things) into existence.

There’s an adage that says where your heart goes, your treasure lies. Meaning, what you focus on bears fruit. If we are intentional about the things we want to accomplish and the way we want our week to go, it will more than likely happen when we put action and thought behind it.

I am sharing with you how to set your intentions for the week so you, too, can have a ritual of starting your week off on a solid footing.

Find a quiet space

You have to be intentional about setting your intentions. I make it a weekly habit of going to my quiet reading space and meditating before I begin writing down my intentions in my journal. Doing this allows me to focus and concentrate while really honing in on what I want to accomplish for the week.

Here’s a sample of an intention I set recently: I will work hard this week on being a better listener and processing the information given before replying vocally. Being a better listener will help me be a better mom, mate, friend, colleague, coworker, and human being.

[ 5 Steps to Intention Setting ]

Write

The best way I have found to set your intentions is to write them down. Each week in my journal, I write them down. One page is dedicated to intentions, and the other page is dedicated to my affirmations. Having them both in the same journal help me visually see what I want to do, and how I plan to get it done.

You can also use your tablet or laptop.

Quality over quantity

Intentions are not about writing a list of things simply to fill the page. It is about tapping into your energy and allowing yourself to manifest your goals. When working to set your intentions, be purposeful. Be strategic. Whether it is a list of 10 things or a list of two, that does not matter.

Think deep

Using the quiet time I recommended, think deep about what intentions you want to focus on for the week. First, list your goals. Then write intentions that go with those goals. Intentions are about being intentional, so think deep and take your time.

Be realistic

While we want to rise the occasion and meet all of our goals and expectations, you don’t want to overdo it. Be realistic when it comes to setting your intentions. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. This is not supposed to be a stressful exercise.

Setting your intentions for the week can make a huge difference in your goal setting. Be intentional, be purposeful, and be willing to do the work. You got this!
